The New Express Entry Draw Invited  1,613  PNP Candidates

IRCC comes back in form after a long time. There has been a long time since there were any draws. Now,  IRCC has invited 1613 applicants in the most recent Express Entry draws. The applicants who are selected for the Draw are the applicants with the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination. To be selected the candidates need to have a  minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 743.

The last express entry draw was on September 19 and invited 4,000 candidates from the Canadian Experience Class -only. The applicants needed to have a score of 509 to be considered. This number was a slight increase from the previous number of 507 points required in the draw of August 27.  In July the  Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws have been increasingly common  and the IRCC has issued 21,800 ITAs to CEC candidates since July.  The latest draw is the first draw in the month of October. Last year there were a total of four draws in October and 9,173 candidates got selected.

What is the Express Entry Program?

Express Entry is an the selection channel for skilled immigrations in Canada which was introduced by IRCC in 2015. It manages applications for three programs: 

• The Federal Skilled Worker Program, 
• The Federal Skilled Trades Program, 
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points based on factors like work experience, education, age, language skills, and occupation. Additional points can be awarded for factors like having a spouse, a sibling in Canada, or Canadian work or study experience. A higher CRS score increases the likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in an Express Entry draw.
In May 2023, IRCC introduced category-based selection draws to address urgent labor market needs. These draws focus on specific sectors-

• Healthcare, 
• STEM,
• Trades,
• Transport,
• Agriculture, 
• French language proficiency. 

While CRS cut-off scores in these draws are typically lower, candidates still need a competitive CRS score and an active Express Entry profile. The categories were chosen based on labor market demands and consultations, with the goal of supporting both economic growth and demographic needs this is mainly true for  French-speaking communities outside Quebec.
