Manitoba invites candidates to seek for provincial nomination.

Manitoba

Manitoba has sent out Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to talented individuals in the province as part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). On December 27, 2024, the province held its 235th draw, granting 239 Letters of Advice to Apply (LOAs) to qualified applicants. These invitations were given after a screening of qualified candidates in Manitoba's Skilled Worker stream. The lowest-ranked candidate who earned a LOA had a score of 857.

The Key Highlights –

•    ITA – 239
•    CRS Score – 857

In addition, the government granted 18 LOAs under Manitoba's Skilled Worker Occupation-Specific Selection. This decision was made using specific National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 unit categories, such as surgeons, general practitioners, nurses, and nurse practitioners. The draw also targeted transportation operators such as bus drivers and subway operators, as well as restaurant and food service managers.

The NOC unit groups selected for this draw were as follows:

31101 - Specialists in surgery
31102 refers to general practitioners and family physicians.
31301: Registered nurses, including registered psychiatric nurses.
31302 – Nurse Practitioner
73301: Bus drivers, subway operators, and other transportation workers.
Restaurant and food service managers (60030)

There were 19 LOAs issued to restaurant and food service managers, with a minimum cut-off score of 632. This draw resulted in the approval of 276 LOAs. Manitoba has noted that candidates with higher scores than the lowest-ranked candidate who have not gotten a LOA may be lacking required documentation, such as a valid language test result or an invitation number for those who participated in a strategic recruitment campaign.

In other news, British Columbia intends to transition its International Graduate and International Post-Graduate programs under the PNP into new Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral streams with revised eligibility requirements. As part of the transition, the final ITA for the International Graduate stream was issued on November 26, 2024. The overseas Post-Graduate track will accept applications from eligible overseas students until 9 a.m. on January 7, 2025.

Prospective candidates should examine their eligibility for upgraded PNP programs in both provinces once the modifications are implemented.
