Candidates for Express Entry Are Invited by the IRCC to the First French-Language Draw of December

There were around 800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) sent out by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in a category-based Express Entry lottery for applicants who speak French well. A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 466 was necessary for the draw.

After a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on December 2, this is the second Express Entry lottery of the month. As stated in Canada's Francophone immigration plan, the IRCC's objective of boosting French-speaking immigration outside of Quebec is in accordance with these targeted draws.

The regular selection of candidates in the PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) streams continued in November with six Express Entry drawings and 5,507 ITAs awarded. With the launch of the new "In-Canada" category, which targets applicants in programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), these streams are anticipated to continue to be a priority.

82,980 permanent resident admissions, or more over 40% of the total number of admissions scheduled for the year, are allotted to category-based selections in the IRCC's Immigration Levels Plan for 2024. With 29,235 PR admissions allotted for this category in 2025—a figure expected to increase through 2027—French-speaking applicants stand to gain greatly.
